This Road I Must Take Category: Writing and Poetry Dedicated to Audrey who lost Maithu The Road I Must Take This road I must take Is all my own The harvest I reap Is from the seeds that I've sewn God either is or he isn't There's no in between If he isn't That would be obscene Yet whatever the case Though time moves forward I feel good for the life I've lived Selfish and self centered though I be I may not live for eternity But I do yet see The part I play in all mankind Is to be me And to find Peace of mind For the battles are all personal I cannot change this world So I make it better by changing me One small pebble in the pond Of eternity Time is like an iron horse moving forward He waits for no man I have yet to catch him Nor yet master his rhythms Yet I have found when I let go I see beautiful visions For what happens is going to happen I can take it tensed up Or floating on a sea of tranquility The choice is yet mine To be yet worldly or divine To climb the twisted vines Inside my mind And find beauty there To lay it bare Per chance you'll stop and stare Yet if not Somehow I know That you love my beautiful soul For I want only good to befall you May you yet be filled with love From up above And find your voice To share with me your prose and your sonnetts Your finely chisled verbal sculptures For I do yet find beauty in them And in you My beautiful friend Even unto the end The end of all things And space and time Now I shall kiss your soul And hug you dearly For you are unique and wonderful Finely cut by the master crafstman With multi colored facets Your heart is a locket Inside it are your important things Trinkets and bobbles Keepsakes you cherish Keep this one last thing from me I love you
