The streets at night Category: Writing and Poetry The streets at night Are teaming with motion Like schools of fish Out in the ocean Under bright neon lights Nameless faces passing Blinkers are flashing Steam rising from below I skip through the streets Light footed Lonliness grips me as I wait You appear You take my arm We walk off together I am no longer alone We drink We dance My heart takes a chance We take a trolly car Ding, ding, ding Ride the bus Hop off on the street All eyes on you and me The smell of the curb The dust and exhaust Wandering around Getting lost in the crowd Minstrel shows playing Poets are saying My heart is swaying Towards you my love A homeless man approaches Alms for the poor Use it on drugs That's for sure But that's not where I'm at tonight I seem to be doing alright With my lady fair And when the skies turn blood red And the mountains fall into the sea My love shall forever be there For you my love For you I shall defend our honor And I shall never surrender The love you give Is sacred But your tolerance Can only go so far At some point You let me out of your car I'm back on the streets With the homeless man The wind is blowing Today's newspapers Along the sidewalk There's nobody around now It's getting dark out My heart lies cold Not even a burning ember Such heights I reached Such lows Yet somehow I know That I never intentionally hurt you And that has to count for something The balance of karma shall one day visit me My true desire shall one day come true But I will always think of you And those brightly clored streets at night When my heart took flight With you my love With you
