Off In the Distance Category: Writing and Poetry The trail wound off in the distance Canopy of trees embraced us I didn't share all my love Manufactured warmth Phony bastard I am But oh the rays of the sun The minutes ticked away I walked alone Ahead of you What were you thinking What could we have talked of My love Why did I not shower you with kisses I am lonely now By myself And no well meaning advice by my friends (Hint!!!) Will make me change Rearrange What times we've had The joys we shared Over the years We were younger then Two young lovers With hope and dreams for the future The world looked like gold and shiny castles Light rain gently fell and carressed your eyes I quenched your every thirst You touched the deepest places of my heart And now, as I look into your eyes I see you've grown tired of me My tricks, my lies My cold hard eyes My selfish ways Heart gone for days Empty vessel Lights are on but nobody's home To be here but not present I am spent upon the lusts of my foregone mind The devil never gave me that girl's behind And so I am worse than any other Without a lover Not two One
