My Mountain Bike Category: Writing and Poetry I rode my mountain bike over trails both wide and narrow Hills and valleys both high and low The smell and texture of the rocks and dirt was exquisite My cleats were fastened into my pedals and I had command over that bike My gloves grasped the handle bars and guided me through each challenge assuredly Over hilltops I climbed, straining my legs and will with each push of the pedals The downhills were a nice reward for a job well done climbing the mountains and hills I would fly like a bird down the hills Race through the turns I had a special place I would go After a hard ride with buckets of sweat Pouring down me My chest and lungs heaving It was a bench on top of a steep hill In the Coyote Hills National Park Overlooking the San Francisco Bay And the Dumbarton Bridge On a clear day you could see all the way to San Francisco 50 miles away from there The Pyramid building and all the beauty there I would relax my breathing and just soak it all in After a nice rest I would continue on my adventures My bike evolved over time as I had ridden it hard on a daily basis Every part almost I eventually replaced with the best there is Just to make sure I never broke down when in that state of spiritual bliss I rode my bike to and from work every day 10 miles each way 20 miles a day 100 miles a week Riding was my life My escape from the things that get me down I could ride both street and trail I could pass road racers on my mountain bike Seems I left those days behind I picked up some wieght I'm afraid to display my wait atop that bike for all to see But who the hell cares what people think What the hell, I'm gonna ride again Even if it kills me Spending all this time on myspace isn't healthy We're all just trying to make our way in the world And be a little bit appreciated for our creativity Whoopdy doo, I'd rather be riding There are a few of you on here I care an aweful lot about I'll be around for you But I gotta chill on this butt sitting business It's bad for my spirit and my mind Ask my buddies who I went emo on lately I hope I left this place better than I found it I hope you all realize your dreams and aspirations I hope we can all have a beer together some day God bless you all, each and every one of you Bye for now
