A fall day in the mountain air Category: Writing and Poetry A fall day in the mountain air Summer's haze is barely there A willow tree we stop and stare And walk deeper into the forest In the distance the majestic peaks Ice capped mountains like fine antiques The inner forest a canopy of shadows What lurks here no one knows A lizard or an ocelot A sloth or a bear A marmoset or a lily Teaming with life these timber mansions Moss covered giants Beams of hazy light Pierce through the canopy And illuminate an ant colony Every member of which knows his job Perpetuate the species On my journey I met you Your warm embrace Your lovely face You share this place And hold me tightly I caress your shoulders Kiss your neck Bathe in your sunshine Soak in all of your beauty It's an honor and not a duty To be by your side And walk this eternal walk Off into the distance
