City Lights Category: Writing and Poetry City lights blinking for my delight Dancing and shimmering in the night Stepped off the subway and up into the street Walked past people that I'd like to meet There were pretty girls and guys younger than I People with fancy clothes all walking by A homeless man curled up in his nook Mumbling some words and reading a book I walked over puddles and crossed the streets Listened to trolly cars clang their bells to the beat The smell was oderous and sticky sweet The bars were filled with laughter on this magical street I walked past a hottie, she smiled and said hi I replied back to her and made contact with her eyes The lights were leading me on through the night Showing me the city all lit up and bright I was looking for contact with another searching soul Not just any girl, but one with a goal I met you there Guinevere You had green eyes and golden hair Streaming out as we rode, on the trolly, past the crowds Though we were not forever my love You whispered in my ear like a dove You told me your hopes Your dreams and your fears Made long conversation over a couple of beers Went back to your place Made love to you there You were a kindly soul who liked to share I was off in the morning at dawn's first light To wander out into the world wondering if you were gonna be alright I think of you now and then My green eyed queen Where did you go Where have you been If you ever look me up I'll be right here To kiss you on your lips And wipe away your tears I'm your backdoor man baby I'll take you in flight Show you highs you've never seen Take you to the highest heights So sing a song for me baby Show me you're true Don't sit there with a long face Feeling all blue For you are a hottie A looker for sure You'll make some guy happy With your come hither alure So take care my blonde haired beauty As you saunter through the nights remember your lover who shared with you the city lights
