California Coast Current mood: artistic Category: Writing and Poetry Driving along the California coast I see waves outside my window The sun is setting in the west Waves are breaking at their crest The caves below give them rest They lose their energy there Reclaimed by the ocean this liquid returns To whence it came A California Poppy adorns my eye Bright orange with the backdrop of the sky Lush vegetation surrounds me here The Sutro Baths from a forgotten year A disguarded can of someone's beer I linger here and think of times long past People who swam here now long dead, they didn't last The latest craze the baths by the sea Fully covered bodies Blue striped bathing suits My time here will not soon be forgot It heals my soul and pleases me a lot Hiking, thinking, barely speaking Lose myself as the sun falls off the ends of the earth Over in China a new day has given birth New life is teaming Children are screaming The ocean is gleaming Your eyes are beaming My music is streaming I'm not cheesey enough to throw in one more rhyme I'm about all out of time So my dear can I have this last dance And per chance If another tries to steal me away With you I'll stay For you dawned your finest gown Was for me you came around In this fleeting moment you exist for me Enchanted by the sea The gentle waves The earthen caves Where we did go Made love below I love you
