A fool In Love Category: Writing and Poetry I sit here feeling pain Professed my love for another Something changed inside my lover Until I expressed those words last night Things were easy and felt just right There was laughter all the while She graced me with her beautiful smile I was floating on air, I thought I'd never fall Then suddenly I hit a great big wall I often make that same mistake in life When things are going really well I go too far and break the spell I shall never be the same again This cold hard pain has killed my spirit The spirit of friendship, honor, and love Wasn't what I thought it was It was all a big joke The joke was on me A sad fool in love you see I shall walk the streets lonely at night With the fog rolling in As the neon signs give their light Bums sitting in their corners holding out their cups Not a soul with warmth is on this street The ground is wet The saxophone plays In a smoke filled bar Down the street All the people have gone home "Last call" the bartender says I put out my smoke and step into the night The lonely night Of love's despair The cold of the night shall forever sting my face I have fallen from her grace I have bitten death's cold embrace I shall say a prayer For this love's despair For my sweet lover Who feels not for me as I do for her That is her right Wish I'd have kept my feelings to myself Everything was going so good Then I had to ruin it Like a fool A fool in love
